ESO is extending the deadline for abstract submission for the conference "VLT beyond 2030" to 26 September 2025. The meeting will take place in Garching near Munich (Germany) and virtually on 26-30 January 2026.

The conference will mark the beginning of a new phase in the planning process for the future of the VLT/I and will be accompanied by a call for white papers for new projects/instruments with a deadline a year later (January 2027).
The "VLT beyond 2030" process is independent from the Expanding Horizons call, which plans for the next generation facility after the ELT.
ESO invites contributions on all topics relevant to the VLT/I in the next decade and beyond, including science, synergies, emerging technology, facilities, and operational opportunities. Abstracts on new technological developments and from early career scientists are especially welcome.
