The workshop will take place at the ESO Vitacura campus. Registration is open from November 1, 2026 to January 15 2027. Participation will be limited to 35 applicants. Applicants will be selected based on their motivation and their previous experience with optical interferometry, with preference given to those with limited or no experience. The school is aimed at those from Latin American institutions.

On 8th and 9th April 2027, the week before the main conference, we will host an introductory workshop on optical interferometry, with a focus on GRAVITY.

The workshop is aimed at Master's students, PhD students, and early career researchers who are interested in learning the fundamentals of optical interferometry and how it can be used in their scientific field. ESO staff members who specialise in various fields will run the workshop. There will be opportunities to get hands-on with GRAVITY data, including reduction and analysis using state-of-the-art tools.

The workshop is designed to focus on members of the Chilean and wider Latin American community, although registration is open to all. For other students, there will be a full VLTI school held at ESO Garching in May/June 2027.

We anticipate being able to provide some financial support to students travelling to the workshop and also attending the main conference. More details will be available in the future.

Registration for this event will open on November 1st 2026, separately from the main conference.
