Practical information - Nice

How to reach the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur, Nice

The Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur (OCA) is located on Mont Gros, overlooking Nice and the Mediterranean, at the Boulevard de l'Observatoire, 06300 Nice. The conference will take place on the Mont Gros site, in the library.

Arriving by plane

Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is connected to the city centre by tram line 2. From the airport, you can reach central Nice and connect to the train station or the bus network.

Arriving by train

Nice-Ville is the main railway station, with connections to major French and European cities. Nice-Riquier station, in the eastern part of the city, is particularly convenient for reaching the Observatory by bus.

Getting to the Observatory

The easiest public transport option is bus 84, which departs opposite of the train station Riquier (in front of the Centrakor Nice Riquer shop at Place Auguste Blanqui) and stops directly at the stop Observatoire, at the entrance to the site. Take the bus in the direction of Baie des Fourmis.

On weekdays, departures from Riquier are typically around every 30 minutes during much of the day, with some variations.

For the current timetable, please consult the Bus 84 timetable or the official Lignes d’Azur website. On weekdays, the bus runs at 07:10, 07:45, 08:20, 08:40, 09:05, 09;20, 09:50, 10:20, with return busses to town from the Observatory at 17:01, 17:35, 18:01, 18:26, 19:01, and the last one at 19:30! Given the size of the bus, we recommend to avoid the 08:40 and 17:01 bus as they might be full.

The observatory has an entrance gate, where a list with the participants is provided to our guard. From there follow the signs of the conference to the library. Keep in mind that this is an up to 15 min walk uphill. Kindly contact the LOC in case of reduced mobility to organise transport for you from the bus stop.

Meals

Lunch is provided on all days. Please make sure to arrive at the LATEST at 11:50 at the library to arrive in the cantine on time as late comers cannot be accommodated. For days with morning sessions coffee and croissants are provided an hour before the session start. We recommend you stop by the beach in the mornings and then come up to mountain refreshed.

Accommodation

We recommend looking for accommodation in the Old Port (Vieux-Port) or Riquier areas of Nice. Both offer convenient access to restaurants and the city centre, and Riquier is particularly well placed for catching bus 84 to the Observatory.

The Old Town (Vieux-Nice) and the city centre are also good options, although you may need to travel a little further to reach the bus stop.
