The ARCADE Science Platform
In this talk I will provide a user-focused overview and demonstration of the Astronomy in the CANFAR Data Environment (ARCADE) science platform. ARCADE is a secure, stable, scalable cloud-based platform on which users are able to access, process, and analyze their data. The system is a highly-customizable, easy-to-use solution to the growing computing requirements of Canadian astronomers and their collaborators. The continual increase in size, variety, and complexity of astronomy's data and software ecosystems, combined with distributed nature of data and teams, means that requirements for effectively mining new and archival are fast outstripping the community's local storage capacity, computing capabilities, and software tools. The ongoing objective of the ARCADE project is to help users overcome such barriers to doing science.
