Abstract

Chris Lintott
Open Science and Publishing, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love (some of) Scientific Publishing.
The academic publishing industry sets much of the structure for the existing system of appointment, reward and promotion; attempting to improve incentives for open science and reproducibility requires engaging with journals and publishers, who are often seen as a barrier to progress. In this talk, Chris Lintott (Lead Editor, Software, Data, Instrumentation and Laboratory Astrophysics, AAS Journals) will talk about how journals are helping, and what more can be done.
