Campo de astronomia ESO para alunos do secundário
Ganha uma viagem aos Alpes no Inverno

O Observatório Europeu do Sul (ESO) e o sua rede de divulgação científica - Science Outreach Network - estão a colaborar com o Sterrenlab, organizador de eventos de comunicação científica, na organização do primeiro Campo de Astronomia ESO. O campo terá lugar de 26 a 31 de dezembro de 2013 no Observatório Astronómico do Vale Aosta, situado em Saint-Barthelemy, Nus, Itália. Vários parceiros, incluindo o ESO, irão atribuir cinco bolsas de participação às melhores candidaturas.
O campo explorará os temas do Universo visível e invisível através de palestras, actividades práticas e observações nocturnas com telescópios e instrumentos no observatório. Actividades sociais, desportos de inverno e excursões contribuirão para tornar o campo uma experiência memorável para os participantes. O ESO será responsável pelo programa científico do Campo de Astronomia e, juntamente com outros parceiros, encarregar-se-á de arranjar palestrantes e fornecer material didáctico.
O Sterrenlab é especialista na organização de campos de ciência internacionais, direccionados para crianças e adolescentes, oferecendo uma série de serviços nos campos da consultadoria, concepção e implementação de projetos e eventos nas áreas da educação e comunicação científicas.
O campo receberá um máximo de 55 estudantes de escolas secundárias, com idades compreendidas entre os 16 e os 18 anos, originários dos Países Membros do ESO e também dos países com representação no ESO Science Outreach Network. Os estudantes que pretenderem candidatar-se devem preencher o formulário disponível na página web do Campo, antes de 15 de outubro de 2013. A seleção dos candidatos far-se-á a 31 de outubro de 2013 e a confirmação final dos participantes deverá realizar-se até 8 de novembro de 2013. Os critérios de selecção e outras instruções de participação encontram-se disponíveis para consulta na página web do Campo.
A inscrição custa 480 euros e inclui alojamento em pensão completa no hostal de Saint Barthelemy, supervisão por pessoal profissional, todas as actividades astronómicas e de lazer, materiais, excursões, transportes no local e seguro. Será também facultado o transporte de autocarro entre o observatório e o aeroporto de Milan Malpensa.
O ESO atribuirá uma bolsa ao melhor candidato. Esta bolsa cobre o custo total do campo, incluindo viagem de ida e volta, e será atribuída à melhor candidatura apresentada por um estudante residente num dos Países Membros do ESO. Outros quatro parceiros nacionais atribuirão igualmente bolsas de participação à melhor candidatura de um estudante residente no respectivo país. Estas bolsa cobrem a inscrição no campo, mas não na viagem. Estes parceiros e respectivos países são:
