Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018 - Wettbewerb startet
Zusammenarbeit der ESO mit dem Royal Observatory Greenwich

Das Royal Observatory Greenwich hat gemeinsam mit Insight Investment und dem BBC Sky at Night Magazine die Daten für den Wettbewerb Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018 verkündet. Bei diesem jährlich stattfindenden, weltweiten Wettbewerb werden die schönsten und spektakulärsten Bilder des Kosmos gesucht. Dazu zählen sowohl Bilder von ausgedehnten, Millionen Lichtjahre entfernten Galaxien, als auch effektvollen Fotos des Nachthimmels unserer näheren Umgebung.
Die ESO stellt aus dem education and Public Outreach Department (ePOD) eines der Jurymitglieder für den Wettbewerb 2018.
In diesem zehnten Jahr wird der sehr populäre Wettbewerb am Montag, den 15. Januar für Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer eröffnet, die die Chance haben, den Hauptpreis in Höhe von £10.000 zu gewinnen. Die Teilnehmer haben bis zum Freitag, den 9. März Zeit, bis zu zehn Bilder in den verschiedenen Kategorien des Wettbewerbs über www.rmg.co.uk/astrophoto einzureichen.
Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018 ist in neun Hauptkategorien unterteilt:
- Himmelslandschaften: Landschafts- und Stadtaufnahmen in der Dämmerung und Nachthimmelaufnahmen mit der Milchstraße, Sternspuraufnahmen, Meteoritenschauer, Kometen, Konjunktionen, Sternbildaufgänge, Halos und leuchtende Nachtwolken vor einem Vordergrundmotiv auf der Erde
- Polarlichter: Fotografien, die Polarlichtaktivität zeigen
- Menschen und Weltraum: Fotografien des Nachthimmels mit Menschen oder Elementen von menschlichem Interesse
- Die Sonne: Sonnenaufnahmen inklusive Finsternisse und Transits
- Der Mond: Mondbilder, inklusive Mondfinsternisse und Planetenbedeckungen
- Planeten, Kometen und Asteroiden: alle anderen Objekte aus dem Sonnensystem, Planeten und ihre Monde, Kometen, Asteroiden und andere Formen von Himmelskörpern
- Sterne und Nebel: Deep Sky-Objekte innerhalb der Milchstraße, Sterne, Sternhaufen, Supernova-Überreste, Nebel und andere intergalaktische Phänomene
- Galaxien: Deep Sky-Objekte außerhalb der Milchstraße, Galaxien, Galaxienhaufen und Sternverbände.
- Young Astronomy Photographer of the Year: Bilder, die von Nachwuchsastronomen unter 16 Jahren aufgenommen wurden
Außerdem werden zwei besondere Preise vergeben: Zum einen wird der Sir Patrick Moore Prize an den besten Neueinsteiger für das beste Foto von einem Amateurastronom vergeben, der das Hobby innerhalb des letzten Jahres für sich entdeckt hat und der bisher noch nie ein Foto bei diesem Wettbewerb eingereicht hat; zum anderen der sogenannte Robotic Scope, mit dem das beste Foto ausgezeichnet wird, das eines der erstklassigen, computerkontrollierten Teleskope verwendet, die von der allgemeinen Öffentlichkeit über das Internet genutzt werden können und deren Zahl stetig wächst.
Beiträge für den Wettbewerb müssen bis zum 9. März 2018 eingereicht werden. Die Gewinnerbilder werden ab dem 24. Oktober 2018 in einer Ausstellung im National Maritime Museum präsentiert. Zur Feier anlässlich des zehnjährigen Jubiläums werden in der Ausstellung 2018 100 atemberaubende Bilder aus der Geschichte des Wettbewerbs ausgestellt werden.
Fotografinnen und Fotografen können ihre Beiträge (bis zu 10 Bilder) online unter www.rmg.co.uk/astrophoto einreichen.
