ALMA Cycle 5 Call for Proposals - Closed

The Call for Proposals for ALMA Cycle 5 (October 2017 – September 2018) closed on 20 April 2017. Over 1700 proposals were received, the largest number of proposals so far. Included were also 24 proposals for Large Programmes, 16 proposals for VLBI observations, 41 proposals for solar observations, and 23 Target of Opportunity proposals.

Supplemental Call for Proposals to use the ALMA 7-m Array in Cycle 4 - Now Open

7-m Array Supplemental Call for Cycle 4 is NOW OPEN!

The Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) is now accepting observing proposals that request to use the 7-m Array in stand-alone mode for the remainder of Cycle 4. Instructions on how to submit proposals can be found on the 7-m Array Supplemental Call web page.  

Supplemental Call for Proposals to use the ALMA 7-m Array in Cycle 4

The ALMA Director announces that the Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) will accept observing proposals that request to use the 7-m Array in the remainder of Cycle 4, which ends on 30 September 2017. This proposal call enables the community to propose projects that will fill in undersubscribed regions of the observing queue for the 7-m Array. Up to 800 hours on the 7-m Array will be allocated through this opportunity.

ALMA Cycle 5 Call for Proposals is now open

The ALMA Director, on behalf of the Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) and the partner organizations in East Asia, Europe, and North America, is pleased to announce the ALMA Cycle 5 Call for Proposals (CfP) for scientific observations to be scheduled from October 2017 to September 2018.  The deadline is 20 April 2017, 15:00 UT.

ALMA Cycle 4 Science Operations resumes

ALMA Cycle 4 (1 Oct 2016 – 30 Sept 2017) continues and PI observations will resume on 1 March 2017 after the "austral winter" engineering period through February. More information on the ALMA Status page.

Special Session SS20 at EWASS, Prague, 26 – 30 June 2017

The European Week of Astronomy and Space Science (EWASS) Special Session No. 20, held on the first day (26 June) of the conference, will be devoted to the three particular modes of observing with ALMA that demonstrate the unique capabilities of the facility: High-Frequency Observations (specifically in Bands 8, 9 and 10); High-Angular-Resolution Observations with baslines up to 16 km; Solar Observations. In anticipation of the ALMA Cycle 5 proposal submission deadline of April 20th, the Italian node of the European ARC is organizing an "ALMA proposal preparation day" to support the ALMA users with the preparation of their proposals. This meeting will be held at the INAF-Istituto di Radioastronomia, Bologna, on 4-5 April.
