Spectacular 360-degree panorama of the VLT platform at sunset, when the telescopes are opening and preparing for the night observations. With four Unit Telescopes with main mirrors 8.2 metres in diameter and four movable 1.8-metre Auxiliary Telescopes, the VLT is the flagship facility for European ground-based astronomy, and one of the most productive astronomical observatories in the world.
