Die Planetariumsdokumentation "Das heiße und energetische Universum" präsentiert — mit Hilfe von beeindruckenden Animationen und echten Bildern — die Errungenschaften der modernen Astronomie, die modernsten Teleskope am Boden und im All, die Grundlagen der elektromagnetischen Strahlung und die natürlichen Phänomene, welche mit der Hochenergie-Astrophysik verknüpft sind.
Die Hochenergie-Astrophysik spielt eine Schlüsselrolle im Verständnis des Universums. Diese Strahlungen enthüllen die Prozesse im heißen und stürmischen Universum.
Die Hochenergie-Astrophysik studiert das heiße Gas in Galaxienhaufen, den massereichsten Objekten im Universum. Sie untersucht auch das heiße Gas, welches sich rund um die Supermassereichen Schwarzen Löcher im Zentrum von Galaxien ansammelt.
Schließlich liefert die hochenergetische Strahlung auch wichtige Informationen über unsere Galaxie, Neutronensterne, Supernovaüberreste und Sterne wie unsere Sonne, welche jede Menge hochenergetische Strahlung aussenden. Europa spielt in der Hochenergie-Astrophysik eine führende Rolle.
XMM-Newton und Integral sind führend in der Erforschung des Universums im Bereich der Röntgen- und Gammastrahlung. ESA's ATHENA-Mission wird 2028 starten und das empfindlichste je gebaute Röntgenteleskop beinhalten.
Die Produzent der Dokumentation ist die “Integrated Activities in the High-Energy Astrophysics Domain” (AHEAD).
AHEAD ist ein durch die Europäische Kommission im Rhamen von Horizon 2020 (Access to large scale facilities) gefördertes Projekt. Es wird von IAPS/INAF in Rom geleitet und beinhaltet die meisten Universitäten und Forschungseinrichtungen in Europa, welche im Bereich der Hochenergie-Astrophysik forschen. Das Projekt hat das Ziel die Anstrengungen all dieser Institute zu bündeln und den Zugang zu den über ganz Europa verteilten Infrastrukturen zu erleichtern.
