Gum 15 in the constellation of Vela

This chart shows the location of the star formation region Gum 15 (red circle) in the southern constellation of Vela (The Sails). This object looks very spectacular in photographs but it is very faint and glows mostly in the red part of the spectrum. As a result the cloud is very hard to see visually, although the many bright stars in this region will show up easily.
