Programm zum Tag der offenen Tür 2014

Nicht vergessen: Am Samstag, dem 11. Oktober 2014, öffnet die Europäische Südsternwarte, das weltweit produktivste bodengebundene Observatorium, zwischen 11:00 und 18:00 Uhr MESZ die Pforten seines Hauptsitzes in Garching bei München für die allgemeine Öffentlichkeit.
In diesem Jahr können die Besucher nicht nur über eine Vielzahl von Aktivitäten die Welt der ESO aus erster Hand kennenlernen, sondern auch die zwei eindrucksvollen neuen Gebäude besichtigen, die seit dem Tag der offenen Tür im letzten Jahr eröffnet wurden.
Wenn Sie während des Tags der offenen Tür Hilfe benötigen, halten Sie Ausschau nach ESO-Mitarbeitern. Sie erkennen sie an ihren Namensschildern. Die ESO ist eine internationale Organisation und hat dementsprechend Mitarbeiter, die die mehrere Sprachen sprechen.
Medienvertreter, die die Veranstaltung besuchen möchten, werden gebeten sich bei osandu@partner.eso.org anzumelden.
Übersicht der Aktivitäten
Bereich 1: Willkommen bei der ESO - Hier erhalten Sie kostenlose Materialien über die ESO, das Programm und den Lageplan für den heutigen Tag sowie Hilfe bei der Orientierung. Für Kinder gibt es eine Sammelkarte, die sie bei unseren Aktivitäten abstempeln lassen können. Wer alle Stempel gesammelt hat, kann Preise gewinnen.
Bereich 2: ESO- und ALMA-Ausstellung mit Modellen, „Fragen Sie einen Astronomen“ - Erfahren Sie mehr über die Teleskope und die Forschung, die mit Ihnen betrieben wird. Bei Fragen wenden Sie sich an Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter, die den Anstecker „Fragen Sie einen Astronomen“ tragen.
Bereich 3: ESO-Chile Chill-Videos. Gönnen Sie sich einen Moment der Ruhe und Entspannung mit eindrucksvollen Aufnahmen unserer Standorte in Chile mit passender Chillout-Musik.
Bereich 4: Bilderbuchlesung für Kinder - Begleitet den kosmischen Gesteinsbrocken Pedro
und seine Freunde auf ihren spannenden Abenteuern.
Bereich 5: Planetarium - In unserem aufblasbaren Planetarium kann man auch am Tag die Sterne sehen.
Bereich 6: Geführte ESO-Touren - Führung durch die Gebäude der ESO. Lernen Sie dabei mehr über die ESO und die neuen Gebäude des Hauptsitzes.
Bereich 7: European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT) Prototyp-Komponenten und astronomische Instrumente - Besuchen Sie unser neues Integrationslabor und erfahren Sie wie Instrumente funktionieren, wie Prototyp-Komponenten für das E-ELT getestet werden und welche optischen Experimente dazu durchgeführt werden.
Bereich 8: ESOshop - Wenn Sie auf der Suche nach Mitbringseln oder Geschenken sind, sind Sie hier richtig.
Bereich 9: Liveschaltung zum Paranal Observatorium und zu ALMA in Chile, Vorträge und eine Vorführung des Dokumentarfilms “Europa greift nach den Sternen – 50 Jahre Erforschung des Südhimmels durch die ESO”.
Bereich 10: Cafeteria - Hier gibt es Freigetränke für unsere Besucher. Gegen eine kleine Spende an unsere Wohltätigkeitsgruppe können Sie sich an einem Buffet mit traditionellen Gerichten aus aller Welt bedienen, das von unseren Mitarbeitern selbst gemacht wurde.
Bereich 11: Praktische Ingenieursarbeit - Möchten Sie erfahren, wie ein Teleskop funktioniert, mal eine Konstruktionssoftware ausprobieren oder per Computer einen Stern verfolgen? Dann sind Sie hier richtig!
Bereich 12: Kinderschminken - Kindergesichter verwandeln sich in Sterne, Kometen, Galaxien und andere astronomische Motive.
Bereich 13: Kometenfabrik - In dieser spektakulären Vorführung erfahren Sie mehr über Kometen und woraus sie bestehen.
Bereich 14: Stellarium und eine Sammlung von Bildern des Nachthimmels - Vorstellung der Software "Stellarium" mit Einführung wie Sie sich selbst damit am Nachthimmel zurechtfinden können.
Bereich 15: Infrarotfotografie - Lassen Sie sich mit einer Infrarotkamera fotografieren.
Bereich 16: Beobachtungen mit Teleskopen - Bei klarem Himmel zeigen Ihnen Astronomen mit kleinen Teleskopen die Sonne.
Die Veranstaltung ist Teil des Tags der offenen Tür des gesamten Forschungscampus Garching, an dem viele weitere Einrichtungen ebenfalls Besucher willkommen heißen.
