Lehdistötilaisuus ESO:ssa mullistavista 'Event Horizion Telescope'-yhteistyöverkoston Linnunrataa koskevista tuloksista

Euroopan eteläinen observatorio (European Southern Observatory, ESO) ja 'Event Horizon'-kaukoputki (EHT) projekti pitävät yhteisen lehdistökonferenssin EHTn uusista Linnunrataa koskevista tuloksista.
- Milloin: 12. toukokuuta klo 15:00 CEST-aikaa
- Missä: Eridanus Auditoriumissa, ESO:n päämajassa, Garching bei München, Saksassa ja verkossa
- Mitä: Lehdistökonferenssi EHT:n mullistavista Linnunrataa koskevista tuloksista
- Ohjelma: ESO:n pääjohtaja aloittaa tilaisuuden. EHT-projektijohtaja Huib Jan van Langevelde ja EHT-yhteistyöverkoston puheenjohtaja (EHT Collaboration Board Founding Chair) Anton Zensus saavat puheenvuoron. EHT-tutkijoiden paneeli kertoo tuloksesta ja vastaa kysymyksiin. Tämä paneeli koostuu seuraavista henkilöistä:
- Thomas Krichbaum, Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy, Saksa
- Sara Issaoun, Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian, US ja Radboudin yliopisto, Alankomaat
- José Gómez, Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC), Espanja
- Christian Fromm, Würzburgin yliopisto, Saksa
- Mariafelicia de Laurentis, University of Naples “Federico II” ja National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), Italia
- RSVP: Kutsu on osoitettu median edustajille. Osallistuakseen konferenssiin tiedotusvälineiden jäsenten on ilmoittauduttava täyttämällä verkkolomake ennen 9. toukokuuta 23:59 CEST-aikaa. Ilmoita, haluatko osallistua henkilökohtaisesti vai osallistutko verkossa. Paikan päällä olevilla toimittajilla on etusija esittää paneelille konferenssin aikana kysymyksiä. Toimittajat voivat esittää kysymyksiä myös etäyhteyden kautta. Henkilökohtaiset haastattelut ovat myös mahdollisia heti konferenssin jälkeen. Henkilökohtaisen lehdistötilaisuuden osallistujille maskien käyttäminen on pakollista.
Konferenssi suoratoistetaan verkossa ESO:n verkkosivulla ja ESO:n YouTube-kanavalla. Lehdistötilaisuuksia järjestetään samanaikaisesti ympäri maailmaa muun muassa Washington D.C.:ssä, Santiago de Chilessä, Méxicossa, Tokiossa ja Taipeissa.
ESO:n lehdistötiedote esitetyistä tuloksista julkaistaan julkisesti 12. toukokuuta pian lehdistötilaisuuden alkamisen jälkeen kello 15:07 CEST-aikaa. Lehdistötiedotteen käännökset ovat saatavilla useilla kielillä laajan julkaisua tukevan audiovisuaalisen materiaalin lisäksi.

YouTube-tilaisuus
Lehdistötilaisuuden jälkeen ESO isännöi yleisölle suunnattua verkkotapahtumaa YouTube-kanavallaan. Tilaisuudessa on live-kysymyksiä ja vastauksille tarkoitettu osio, jossa yleisö voi tehdä kysymyksiä toiselle EHT-asiantuntijapaneelille. Tämä paneeli koostuu seuraavista henkilöistä:

Tämä YouTube-tapahtuma alkaa klo 16.30 CEST-aikaa ja kestää noin tunnin. Rekisteröintiä ei vaadita. Yleisö voi esittää kysymyksiä Twitterissä (#askEHTeu) tai käyttämällä YouTube-kommentteja.
