ESO y sus socios lanzan el innovador sistema para planetarios Data2Dome

ESO se enorgullece en lanzar públicamente una versión operativa del innovador proyecto Data2Dome en asociación con la empresa Evans & Sutherland y la International Planetarium Society. Este nuevo e increíble sistema gratuito para planetarios ofrece la colección completa de imágenes y videos de los telescopios de vanguardia de ESO localizados en La Silla y Paranal, así como de los telescopios ALMA, ESA/Hubble, y a través del proyecto Astropix de la NASA y el IPAC: el telescopio espacial Spitzer, el Observatorio Chandra de Rayos X, el GALEX, WISE, y el NuStar, así como los telescopios espaciales Planck y Herschel de ESA. El sistema Data2Dome también entrega impresionantes imágenes y videos en formato fulldome, modelos 3D y música, así como los últimos comunicados de prensa y blogs de todas las organizaciones astronómicas y espaciales a nivel mundial, ¡todo en un clic y de forma gratuita! El módulo del Calendario Astronómico del Data2Dome proporciona noticias diarias de eventos astronómicos relevantes, como lanzamientos de naves espaciales, alineaciones planetarias, aniversarios históricos y otros.
La astronomía es una disciplina dinámica, que genera la publicación de espectaculares descubrimientos, imágenes, videos y otros datos de forma diaria. Los planetarios de todo el mundo siempre han deseado compartir estos nuevos avances. Sin embargo, usualmente toma días o semanas transformar las últimas noticias en contenido apto para este formato. La visión del sistema Data2Dome es integrar fácilmente los datos astronómicos en los sistemas de dichos planetarios en tiempo prácticamente real, permitiéndoles adentrar a sus visitantes en los últimos descubrimientos el mismo día en que se anuncian. La base de datos se organiza y mantiene cuidadosamente con el fin de incluir material de alta calidad y ahorrarles tiempo a los presentadores.
Cada mañana, los presentadores pueden acceder a interesantes noticias y bases de datos ya actualizadas, y descargarlas de forma gratuita para ser usadas en las funciones a lo largo del día. Los presentadores pueden informar acerca de eventos a medida que ocurren, o incorporar un segmento como "La semana pasada en el campo de la astronomía" en sus programas. Este fluido caudal de información transformará a los planetarios en lugares dinámicos que estarán siempre a la vanguardia, llevando la ciencia de la astronomía a la vida que habita bajo la cúpula.
El proyecto Data2Dome está ahora disponible en un gran número de planetarios en todo el mundo utilizando el sistema Digistar 6 de Evans & Sutherland, y estamos trabajando con otros planetarios para incorporarlo también a sus sistemas. Si usted es un presentador usando el sistema Digistar 6 en su planetario, abra la pestaña de Data2Dome para hacer uso de estos recursos gratuitos en estos momentos. Si usted es un visitante, pregunte en su planetario local si tienen el contenido del sistema Data2Dome, para que pueda tener acceso a ciencia en vivo.
El proyecto es liderado por ESO en preparación para el lanzamiento del planetario y centro de visitantes ESO Supernova, el primer planetario de código abierto del mundo, en la sede de ESO en Garching, Alemania.

El planetario y centro de visitantes ESO Supernova es el resultado de una cooperación entre el Observatorio Europeo Austral (ESO) y el Instituto Heidelberg de Estudios Teóricos (HITS).
