Rediseño de sitio web de ESO

Después de semanas de trabajo, ESO ya cuenta con un nuevo diseño para sus páginas web. La principal motivación para los cambios fue dar al sitio una interfaz más fácil de emplear y hacerlo más accesible desde dispositivos móviles.  El nuevo diseño se adapta automáticamente a la resolución de la pantalla que utiliza el visitante (tecnología ampliamente usada hoy en día, en donde la mayoría de las personas hace uso de smartphones o tablets para acceder a los distintos sitios web). 

El objetivo global era crear una página web más funcional, con un diseño llamativo y actualizado. Esto permite que las excepcionales instalaciones de ESO, y los resultados científicos que allí se generan, se muestren de la mejor forma posible.

El nuevo diseño entrega a las páginas web de ESO un aspecto menos organizacional y adopta un estilo más parecido al de una revista o diario electrónico, especialmente aquellas páginas que contienen los anuncios y comunicados de prensa. De esta manera resulta más sencillo destacar los muchos logros, avances científicos y el atractivo material visual que ESO produce prácticamente de forma diaria.

La nueva interfaz resulta fácil de emplear en pantallas táctiles, tanto en términos de diseño como de interacción, y posee el mismo contenido que se encontraba disponible en las antiguas páginas web. Esperamos que el nuevo sitio sea más atractivo para los nuevos usuarios, sin crear confusión en aquellos que ya lo visitan, ya que mantiene la misma estructura de la página original. Se han incorporado algunos cambios menores, por ejemplo, el antiguo menú denominado "Ciencia con telescopios de ESO" ahora puede encontrarse con el nombre de "Descubrimientos" y "Trabaja en ESO" se redujo a "Empleos".

Sin embargo, una de las transformaciones más relevantes, y un importante paso para los usuarios que utilizan las páginas web en un idioma distinto al inglés, es la desaparición de los minisitios de ESO. En las nuevas páginas ahora es posible seleccionar un idioma en el menú principal, esta configuración queda almacenada a través de cookies. En el caso de que los usuarios visiten una página que no esté disponible en su idioma, serán automáticamente redirigidos a la página original en inglés y recibirán una notificación indicando que el contenido no se encuentra disponible en su lengua. Anteriormente un visitante que navegara a través del sitio en otro idioma, no tenía la posibilidad de acceder a las páginas en inglés por este medio.

Realizar cambios para brindar mayor accesibilidad a los distintos idiomas era uno de los objetivos a largo plazo de nuestra organización y nos complace que los 19 idiomas se encuentren disponibles de una forma más natural.
