The MiMeS survey of Magnetism in Massive Stars The Magnetism in Massive Stars (MiMeS) project aims to explore the origin, characteristics and physical impact of magnetic fields in OB stars. Supported by 3 large observing programs (LPs) corresponding to a commitment of over 1500 hours of telescope time, the MiMeS collaboration is comprised of an international team of over 50 observers, modelers and theoreticians located in 15 countries. The Survey Component of the LPs aims to investigate the incidence and statistical properties of massive star magnetism via high-precision spectropolarimetry of several hundred OB stars. This talk will briefly review the motivation and structure of the project, then present the first statistical results from the MiMeS survey and the inferred basic characteristics of massive star magnetism.
