High Resolution with ALMA: Tests of Star Formation Theory

After a quick review of some questions about star formation and the basic outline of how we think it proceeds, I will talk about 
some tests that ALMA will provide. These include a test for infalling material and measures of the infall rate. Two distinct 
models for the formation of massive stars in a cluster exist, and ALMA can test them in various ways. Finally, the properties 
of disks and the possible detection of forming planets will be discussed.
