Integrated modelling of the ELT Positioning Actuators and Edge Sensors
The goal of the internship will be to model and predict the performance of the Extremely Large Telescope segmented primary mirror (M1) on the basis of as-built and as-tested characteristics of the M1 segment subunits components: the Edge Sensors, which measure accurately the relative position of each segment with respect to its neighbors, and the Positioning Actuators (PACT), which allow positioning them with 3 degrees of freedom.
