Nuovi emozionanti tour virtuali degli osservatori e delle strutture dell’ESO

Sul sito web dell’ESO sono disponibili nuovissimi tour virtuali a 360 gradi di tutte le strutture dell’ESO. Questa nuova versione è stata arricchita da nuovi punti di vista e molti panorami e video che immortalano luoghi mai visti prima. È possibile spostarsi da un panorama all’altro cliccando sui punti blu intorno alle immagini. Segui questi punti blu per un’esperienza coinvolgente nel mondo dell’ESO!
Puoi iniziare il tour nella sede centrale dell’ESO a Garching, appena fuori Monaco, in Germania. Inaugurati nel 1981, gli edifici moderni sono il centro scientifico, tecnico e amministrativo dell’ESO. Poiché il numero degli Stati Membri dell’ESO e del suo staff è cresciuto, a dicembre del 2013 è stata aggiunta un’estensione al progetto iniziale. Le strutture dell’ESO a Garching che si possono visitare in questo tour virtuale sono apprezzate nei circoli architettonici in tutto il mondo, essendo vere e proprie perle di architettura!
Dalla calma della periferia di Garching, puoi attraversare l’Oceano Atlantico per raggiungere alcuni dei luoghi più inospitali della Terra e intraprendere un’esplorazione virtuale degli osservatori dell’ESO in Cile. L’Osservatorio del Paranal, che ospita il VLT (Very Large Telescope), e l’Osservatorio di La Silla, il primo osservatorio dell’ESO, si possono contemplare sotto i magnifici cieli notturni che li rendono tra i migliori siti astronomici al mondo. Grazie a questi nuovi panorami ci si può fare un’idea di cosa significhi godersi i cieli del Cile in prima persona. Oltre a questi osservatori ottici, che sono tra i migliori al mondo, si possono "visitare" anche gli edifici della OSF (Operations Support Facility) di ALMA, dove lavorano e vivono le persone che si occupano della schiera di antenne del radiotelescopio più grande al mondo. Viene persino fornito uno sguardo sul futuro. Potrai esplorare il Cerro Armazones da diversi punti di vista. Lì verrà costruito l’E-ELT (European Extremely Large Telescope), il più grande occhio del mondo rivolto al cielo, che affronterà alcune delle sfide scientifiche più complesse della nostra epoca.
La collezione dell’ESO è composta da centinaia di panoramiche a 360 gradi che possono anche essere utilizzate per altri scopi. Per esempio, possono essere importate in sistemi di realtà virtuali o in software per planetari, per essere visionate nei planetari di tutto il mondo. Sono tutte disponibili a questo link.
