Annunciati i vincitori delle borse per il Primo Campo di Astronomia dell'ESO
Borse aggiuntive dall'ESO

Si e' chiusa la fase delle iscrizioni per il primo Campo di Astronomia rivolto agli studenti delle scuole secondarie di secondo grado: sono state ricevute 170 domande da 23 paesi diversi, tra cui sono stati selezionati i vincitori delle 12 borse offerte dall'ESO e dai partner nazionali. Il Campo, organizzato da Sterrenlab in collaborazione con ESO e la sua rete di divulgazione scientifica, si svolgera' dal 26 al 31 dicembre 2013 all'Osservatorio Astronomico della Val d'Aosta, a Saint-Barthelemy, Nus, Italia.
Il campo ospitera' circa 50 studenti di scuola secondaria, di eta' tra i 16 e i 18 anni, provenienti dagli Stati Membri dell'ESO e dai paesi che fanno parte della rete di divulgazione scientifica (ESON). Tra questi sono stati scelti 9 ragazzi che riceveranno una borsa che copre le spese del campo, mentre tre riceveranno una copertura parziale delle spese.
L'ESO intendeva offrire una sola borsa, ma le tante domande presentate dal Brasile e dalla Polonia e soprattutto la loro qualita' eccellente hanno convinto gli organizzatori a offrire eccezionalmente due borse aggiuntive per i migliori partecipanti di questi paesi. I vincitori delle borse dell'ESO sono dunque: Hera Protopapas Wettergren (16 anni, Svezia), per la sua determinazione e la presentazione che dimostra grande talento, Lucas Carvalho Cordeiro (17 anni, Brasile), per il suo piano ambizioso di "incendiare il cuore brasiliano con la luce del Cosmo" e la sua creativita', e Maciej Garbacz (17 anni, Polonia), per la sua notevole attivita' nel campo dell'astronomia.
I partner nazionali degli Stati Membri hanno offerto le seguenti borse:
- Dall'INAF (Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Italia) e dall'Universita' di Milano, Italia: due viaggi, per Sara Sieni (17 anni) e Edoardo Altamura (17 anni);
- dalla Sociedad Espanola de Astronomia, Spagna: un viaggio per Patricia Vicente (16 anni) e rimborso parziale per: Ariadna Albors Zumel (17 anni), Miguel Angel Garcia Valverde (16 anni) e Andrés López Moreno (16 anni);
- dall'Universita' di Ginevra, Svizzera: un viaggio per Isabella Giulia (18 anni);
- dalla Societa' Astronomica della Polonia e da “Urania – Postępy Astronomii” Polonia: un viaggio per Kamila Ulatowska (18 anni) e dal Fondo polacco per i Bambini un viaggio per Katarzyna Budzik (18 anni).
