Sonnenfinsternis-Webcast von La Silla

Am 2. Juli um 21:15 Uhr MESZ wird die Europäische Südsternwarte (engl. European Southern Observatory, kurz ESO) bei günstigen Wetterverhältnissen und wenn die Internet-Breitbandverbindung es zulässt die an diesem Tag über La Silla beobachtbare totale Sonnenfinsternis live im Internet übertragen. Einrichtungen in unseren Mitgliedsländern und darüber hinaus sind herzlich eingeladen, die Übertragung bei öffentlichen Veranstaltungen zu nutzen, die rund um die Finsternis geplant sind. Auch die breite Öffentlichkeit kann die Sendung einfach über unsere Webseite genießen. Dies ist eine einzigartige Gelegenheit, Teil der einzigen totalen Sonnenfinsternis zu sein, die während der nächsten 212 Jahre von einem ESO-Observatorium aus sichtbar sein wird.

Der Webcast wird in HD über die Webseite der ESO und auf dem Youtube-Kanal der ESO verfügbar sein und von 21:15 MESZ bis zum Ende der Finsternis um etwa 24:00 Uhr laufen, wobei die Totalität um 22:39 beginnt [1]. Es wird ein "roher" Feed sein, der keinen Kommentar enthält, aber wir werden regelmäßig zwischen verschiedenen Bildquellen wechseln, die den Anblick der Sonne mit bis zu drei kleinen Teleskopen und auch die Zuschauer auf der der Sternwarte zeigen.

Bei schlechtem Wetter kann der Webcast abgesagt werden. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit eines völlig klaren Himmels liegt im Juli für La Silla bei etwa 40%. Es besteht zwar eine Chance von etwa 55%, dass der Himmel zumindest teilweise klar wird, mit einer Wahrscheinlichkeit von mehr als 30% kann es aber auch zu dichten Wolkendecke kommen. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit eines klaren Himmels ist auf La Silla höher als in den meisten anderen Regionen, die ebenfalls die Finsternis erleben werden, und etwas besser als im nahegelegenen Elqui-Tal, aber natürlich kann keine Garantie für klaren Himmel gegeben werden.

Angesichts des Anstiegs der Besucherzahlen in der Region während der Finsternis und ihrer Lage in abgelegenen Gebieten der Atacama-Wüste haben wir zusätzliche Maßnahmen ergriffen, um eine ausreichende Breitbandverbindung zu gewährleisten, aber wir können die Verhältnisse an diesem Tag nicht garantieren.
