Conoce parte del legado astronómico de Chile en el Día del Patrimonio 2018

El domingo 27 de mayo, ESO formará parte de esta celebración a través de dos eventos en sitios emblemáticos para la astronomía chilena.
El Observatorio Europeo Austral (ESO) será parte de una nueva edición del Día del Patrimonio Cultural de Chile, actividad organizada por el Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio y que, en esta ocasión, se celebrará durante los días 26 y 27 de mayo.
Este año se desarrollarán más de 1400 actividades a lo largo del país y ESO estará presente en dos eventos que, desde la capital, buscan destacar el legado astronómico de Chile y que tendrán lugar en el Observatorio Manuel Foster y Observatorio Astronómico Nacional, en Cerro Calán, ambos centros de gran relevancia para la astronomía nacional.
A continuación encontrarás todos los detalles para participar:
- Recorrido por el Observatorio Manuel Foster: Fundado en 1903 y considerado uno de los nueve más grandes del mundo en su época, el Observatorio Manuel Foster fue el primer edificio que se instaló en la cima del Cerro San Cristóbal, en pleno corazón de la ciudad de Santiago. El observatorio aún tiene su telescopio con un espejo primario de 93 centímetros, que lo hicieron merecedor de la categoría de Monumento Nacional en 2010. Habrán visitas guiadas, entre las 10:00 y las 16:00 horas, para conocer la historia del observatorio que elaboró importantes catálogos de estrellas del hemisferio sur y realizó observaciones de Venus, la Luna y Marte. Además habrá una carpa con diferentes actividades y puestos informativos con monitores de ESO y ALMA.
- Dónde: Parque Metropolitano de Santiago, Cerro San Cristóbal, sector Plaza México. Acceso vía funicular, teleférico o caminando desde Pío Nono o Pedro de Valdivia. Cerrado acceso vehicular de 09:00 a 14:00 horas.
- Horario: Domingo 27 de mayo de 10:00 a 16:00 horas.
- Organizador: Instituto de Astrofísica de la Universidad Católica de Chile.
- Costo: Gratuito.
- Recorrido por Cerro Calán: Hogar del Observatorio Astronómico Nacional y del Departamento de Astronomía (DAS) de la Universidad de Chile y el Centro de Astrofísica y Tecnologías Afines (CATA), este importante polo astronómico encierra entre sus edificios y cúpulas una parte importante de la historia astronómica de Chile. Habrán visitas guiadas por los telescopios más antiguos del país y observaciones del Sol con instrumentos modernos. Además, habrá una muestra itinerante del Museo Interactivo Mirador (MIM), puestos informativos de ESO, ALMA y de la Escuela de Verano EdV de la Universidad de Chile.
- Dónde: Camino el Observatorio 1515, Las Condes, Santiago. El ingreso a las instalaciones será exclusivamente peatonal.
- Horario: Domingo 27 de mayo de 10:00 a 16:00 horas.
- Organizador: Departamento de Astronomía (DAS) de la Universidad de Chile y Centro de Excelencia en Astrofísica y Tecnologías Afines (CATA).
- Costo: Gratuito.
