Nuevos y emocionantes tours virtuales de los observatorios e instalaciones de ESO

Ya se encuentran disponibles nuevos recorridos virtuales de todas las instalaciones de ESO, en 360 grados, en el sitio web de ESO. Se ha dado realce a esta nueva versión presentando nuevas perspectivas y diversos panoramas y videos, que captan lugares nunca antes vistos. Se puede cambiar de un panorama a otro simplemente haciendo clic en los puntos azules que rodean las imágenes. ¡Sólo tiene que seguir estos puntos azules para disfrutar de esta experiencia de inmersión en el mundo de ESO!
Puede comenzar su recorrido con la Sede Central de ESO, situada en Garching, en las afueras de Munich, Alemania. Dicha sede se inauguró en 1981, y sus edificios modernos constituyen el centro científico, técnico y administrativo de ESO. A medida que aumentó el número de Estados Miembros de ESO y su personal, se agregó una ampliación al diseño original del edificio en 2013. Las instalaciones de ESO en Garching, que han sido objeto de reconocimiento en los círculos de la arquitectura a nivel mundial, se pueden visitar ahora en este tour virtual, que presenta verdaderas joyas arquitectónicas.
Desde la tranquilidad de los suburbios de Garching, se puede cruzar el Océano Atlántico para llegar a algunos de los lugares más inhóspitos de la Tierra, y comenzar una exploración virtual de los observatorios de ESO en Chile. El Observatorio Paranal, hogar del Very Large Telescope (VLT), y el Observatorio La Silla, el primer observatorio que construyó ESO, se pueden apreciar bajo los magníficos cielos nocturnos que los sitúan entre los mejores lugares astronómicos del mundo. Mediante estos nuevos panoramas, usted podrá sentir la emoción de contemplar los cielos de Chile de primera fuente. Además de estos observatorios ópticos de nivel mundial, también puede “visitar” los edificios del Centro de Apoyo a las Operaciones de ALMA (OSF por su sigla en inglés), el lugar donde viven y trabajan las personas que operan el mayor conjunto de radiotelescopios del mundo. Todos los sitios brindan antecedentes e información, incluyendo informes acerca de todos los telescopios e instrumentos de ESO.
También se da una mirada hacia el futuro. Podrá explorar, desde diferentes ángulos, Cerro Armazones, el lugar de construcción del European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT), que será el ojo más grande del mundo para mirar el cielo, y permitirá emprender algunos de los desafíos científicos más intrincados de nuestro tiempo.
La colección de ESO contiene cientos de imágenes panorámicas en 360 grados que pueden utilizarse para otros propósitos: por ejemplo, puede importarse a sistemas de realidad virtual, o a software para planetarios, para exhibición en planetarios en todo el mundo.
