Prémios atribuídos aos vencedores do Concurso de Fotografia Noturna 2018

Foram entregues os prémios aos vencedores do Concurso de Fotografia Noturna 2018 numa ceremónia que decorreu no festival NightScapades, o primeiro festival internacional de astrofotografia a ser realizado em França. O ESO é um parceiro desta competição, a qual é organizada pela associação sem fins lucrativos Chasseurs de Nuits.

Os trabalhos vencedores, anunciados a 2 de Maio, foram escolhidos de entre quase 400 fotografias e timelapses astronómicos, submetidos em 4 categorias diferentes — Paisagem Noturna, Na Cidade, Timelapse e Júnior. Foram atribuídos em cada categoria um primeiro e um segundo lugar.

O primeiro prémio na categoria de Paisagem Noturna, aberta as todas as imagens capturadas entre o pôr e o nascer do Sol, foi atribuído a Stefan Liebermann da Alemanha, que submeteu uma bela imagem da Via Láctea em arco sobre árvores mortes e a paisagem desértica da bacia de argila branca Deadvlei na Namibia. O seu prémio foi uma máquina fotográfica Nikon D7500, uma assinatura de um ano da Astronomy Ireland e o trofeu do Concurso. O segundo lugar nesta categoria foi para Paul Zizka do Canadá, pela sua fotografia de subida em gelo iluminado pela luz das estrelas.

Claudia Solter da Alemanha ganhou o primeiro prémio na categoria Na Cidade, com a sua fotografia composta da Via Láctea e duma pequena igreja de província, capturada durante uma noite fria de inverno. O seu prémio consiste numa viagem de 3 dias ao Festival Mayo Dark Sky na Irlanda. Remi Ferrieri da França obteve o segundo lugar nesta categoria com a sua imagem do crescente da Lua, Júpiter e Vénus subindo por detrás da Torre Odeon no Mónaco.

O primeiro prémio na categoria de Timelapse foi entregue a Xiaoxiao Liu da China pelo seu timelapse da Via Láctea em torno do vulcão em erupção Mt. Yasur. Xiaoxiao enfrentou cinzas e erupções vulcânicas, assim como tremores de terra para conseguir capturar este timelapse, e o seu prémio é uma viagem de 5 dias à Reserva Dark Sky Alqueva, em Portugal. Curtis Brandon do Paraguai recebeu o segundo prémio nesta categoria.

O vencedor da categoria Júnior, aberta apenas a jovens de nacionalidade francesa com idades inferiores a 18 anos, foi Rémi Boucher, de 17 anos, com uma imagem captivante de exposição múltipla. Rémi recebeu uma viagem de fim de semana para si e um adulto acompanhante ao Pic du Midi e à Réserve International de ciel Etoilé, para além dum sensor estelar Polarie. O segundo lugar foi para Alice Fock Hang, de 8 anos, que pacientemente obteve uma imagem de exposição longa de rastros de estrelas.

Este ano Miguel Claro, o presidente do júri, atribuiu ainda um prémio especial a Jeff Dai da China, pela sua imagem da chuva de meteoros gemínides sobre a província de Heilongjiang, na China. Para capturar o esplendor total desta chuva de meteoros, Jeff teve que sobreviver a temperaturas de -28°C. O seu prémio especial consiste na reprodução a alta resolução da sua imagem, emoldurada em alumínio.

Os vencedores receberam os seus prémios numa cerimónia que decorreu em Lourdes, França, parte do festival NightScapades. Este festival pretende levar até ao grande público todos os aspectos da astrofotografia e do maravilhamento do céu noturno, desde paisagens noturnas e timelapses, a literatura, música, pintura e arte de rua.
