Trzeci ESO Astronomy Camp dla uczniów szkół średnich

ESO wraz ze swoją Siecią Popularyzacji Nauki współpracują ze Sterrenlab, organizatorem imprez edukacyjnych, w ramach przygotowań do trzeciego ESO Astronomy Camp na temat Układu Słonecznego i planet pozasłonecznych. Obóz odbędzie się od 26 grudnia 2015 r. do 1 stycznia 2016 r. w Astronomical Observatory of the Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley, umiejscowionym w Saint-Barthélemy, w Nus, we Włoszech. Kilku partnerów, w tym ESO, ufundowało stypendia, które zostaną przyznane zwycięzcom konkursu.
Podczas obozu w trakcie kilku sesji astronomicznych będą poruszone zagadnienia Układu Słonecznego oraz planet pozasłonecznych, będą to wykłady, warsztaty oraz nocne obserwacje za pomocą teleskopów i instrumentów obserwatorium. Dodatkowo zaplanowano zabawy integrujące grupę, sporty zimowe i wycieczki, tak aby obóz na długo został zapamiętany przez uczestników. Za program naukowy dla ESO Astronomy Camp odpowiedzialne będzie ESO, które zapewni wykładowców i materiały wspólnie z kilkoma innymi partnerami.
Oto kilka zagadnień z tegorocznego programu: wykłady na temat misji planetarnych oraz odkryć pierwszych egzoplanet, pomiary odległości do planetoidy, wycieczka do Matterhorn.
Opłata rejestracyjna wynosi 500 euro i pokrywa pełne wyżywienie i zakwaterowanie w hotelu w Saint Barthélemy, opiekę profesjonalnej kadry, wszystkie zajęcia astronomiczne i rozrywkowe,, materiały, wycieczki, transport wewnętrzny oraz ubezpieczenie. Zapewniony zostanie autokar pomiędzy obserwatorium, a lotniskami Milan Malpensa. Opłata nie pokrywa natomiast kosztów podróży pomiędzy miejscem zamieszkania ucznia, a Milan Malpensa lub Saint Barthélemy [1].
W obozie weźmie udział maksymalnie 56 uczniów szkoły średniej w wieku od 16 do 18 lat (osoby urodzone w latach 1997-1999) z Krajów Członkowskich ESO oraz dodatkowo z krajów Sieci Popularyzacji Nauki ESO. Ograniczona liczba miejsc będzie dostępna dla uczniów z innych krajów, ale nie mają oni prawa do otrzymania stypendiów od ESO.
Uczniowie chętni do udziału w obozie powinni wypełnić formularz na witrynie obozu i przesłać krótki film w języku angielskim (trwający nie więcej niż trzy minuty) na temat “My favourite astronomical object/phenomenon”, w terminie do 4 października 2015 r. Wybór laureatów stypendiów oraz pozostałych uczestników obozy nastąpi do 16 października 2015 r. Ostateczne potwierdzenie udziału w obozie przez uczestników powinno nastąpić do 30 października 2015 r. Kryteria selekcji i pozostałe instrukcje na temat udziału są dostępne na witrynie obozu.
Najlepiej oceniony aplikujący z jednego z Krajów Członkowskich ESO lub z krajów należących do sieci ESON, otrzyma stypendium ufundowane przez ESO, które pokryje kompletny koszt udziału w obozie, w tym transport. Kilku partnerów krajowych także ufunduje wsparcie dla najlepszych zgłoszeń od studentów mieszkających w ich krajach. Aktualna lista jest dostępna na witrynie obozu.
Uwagi
[1] W przypadku polskich uczniów Polskie Towarzystwo Astronomiczne przeprowadzi ogólnopolski konkurs z nagrodami w postaci stypendiów pokrywających koszty udziału w obozie i koszty biletów lotniczych.
