Milky Way gamma ray lobes

An excerpt from the Planetarium Show "The Hot and Energetic Universe".

NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope reveals gigantic lobes in our galaxy. Each lobe is 25,000 light-years tall and possibly only a few million years old. Within the bubbles, extremely energetic electrons are interacting with lower-energy light to create gamma rays.
