Invito a osservare e trasmettere lo sbancamento della sommità che ospiterà l'E-ELT
Un'opportunità per i rappresentanti della stampa e i centri scientifici in tutto il mondo

Il 19 giugno 2014 un evento, dedicato alla stampa, all'Osservatorio del Paranal dell'ESO celebrerà lo sbancamento della cima del Cerro Armazones, il picco di 3000 metri che ospiterà l'E-ELT: l'European Extremely Large Telescope. Per permettere a chiunque in tutto il mondo di partecipare a questo primo passo fondamentale, un video verrà trasmesso in diretta su Livestream dalle 16:30 UTC fino a circa le 18:30 UTC [1].
Sono ancora disponibili alcuni posti riservati per rappresentanti della stampa al find di partecipare di persona alla cerimonia e visitare l'Osservatorio del Paranal dell'ESO. Chi è interessato si iscriva entro il 23 maggio compilando il modulo per le visite della stampa, indicando come "Motivo della visita" di voler partecipare all'evento dello sbancamento per l'E-ELT. Qui sono disponibili ulteriori informazioni per la stampa.
Materiale video di qualità adatta alla trasmissione verrà messo a disposizione delle televisioni che non possano partecipare direttamente all'evento, subito dopo il termine dell'evento. Il materiale potrebbe essere distribuito anche attraverso l'European Broadcasting Union.
Osservatori pubblici, planetari, centri scientifici e tutti gli educatori sono invitati a sfruttare la trasmissione video organizzando eventi locali, come occasione per invitare visitatori e offrire al contempo la possibilità di condividere l'emozione di un evento fondamentale nella storia dell'astronomia. La logistica di un tale evento è semplice: servono una buona connessione a Internet, uno schermo per proiettare lo streaming video e un locale con sufficiente spazio. Per aiutare ad annunciare l'evento alla stampa locale, gli organizzatori possono contattare il rappresentante locale della rete di divulgazione scientifica dell'ESO (ESON) [2].
I partecipanti possono anche seguire i commenti di @ESO su Twitter con l'hashtag #EELTblast e porre domande in inglese a cui verrà data risposta in tempo reale nei limite del possibile.
Per aggiornamenti fino al giorno dell'evento si prega di controllare la pagina degli eventi sul sito e di seguire ESO su Facebook. Se pensatedi organizzare un evento teneteci per cortesia informati mandando un email a osandu@partner.eso.org così che possiamo farne pubblicità sui canali di comunicazione dell'ESO.

L'ESO (European Southern Observatory, o Osservatorio Australe Europeo) è la principale organizzazione intergovernativa di Astronomia in Europa e l'osservatorio astronomico più produttivo al mondo. È sostenuto da 15 paesi: Austria, Belgio, Brasile, Danimarca, Finlandia, Francia, Germania, Gran Bretagna, Italia, Olanda, Portogallo, Repubblica Ceca, Spagna, Svezia, e Svizzera. L'ESO al momento sta progettando l'European Extremely Large Telescope o E-ELT (significa Telescopio Europeo Estremamente Grande), un telescopio da 39 metri che opera nell'ottico e infrarosso vicino e che diventerà "il più grande occhio del mondo rivolto al cielo".
