Dänischer Industrietag bei der ESO

Am 16. Mai 2013 findet am ESO-Hauptsitz in Garching bei München ein Industrietag für dänische Industriedelegationen statt. Dieses Treffen bietet Repräsentanten dänischer Firmen und Institutionen Informationen die Möglichkeit, sich über die ESO und potenzielle Möglichkeiten zur Beteiligung an den industriellen Aktivitäten der ESO zu informieren.
Moderne astronomische Teleskope bestehen aus vielen Komponenten, die zunächst von Ingenieuren und Wissenschaftlern entworfen und dann schließlich von wissenschaftlichen und technologischen Firmen hergestellt werden. Die ESO betreibt einige der leistungsfähigsten bodengebundenen Teleskope der Welt und wird in naher Zukunft mit der Konstruktion des European Extremly Large Telescopes (E-ELT) starten – Herausforderungen, die nur mit einem leistungsfähigen Netzwerk aus externen industriellen Partnern zu bewältigen sind. Somit bieten sich für dänische Firmen und Institutionen neue Möglichkeiten zur Kooperation, zur Einreichung von Angeboten und bei der Entwicklung der benötigten innovativen Technologien.
Am 12. April 2013 hatten Repräsentanten Dänemarks die Teilnahme ihres Landes am E-ELT-Programm bestätigt.
Seit dem Jahr 2005 hat die ESO weltweit Aufträge mit einem Investitionsvolumen von mehr als 600 Millionen Euro vergeben. Der überwiegende Teil davon wurde an Firmen in den ESO Mitgliedsländern und nach Chile vergeben und führte so zu starken internationalen Beziehungen mit privaten Partnern bei der Sicherstellung notwendigen technischen Kompetenz.
Während des Treffens wird ESO-Generaldirektor Tim de Zeeuw den Vertretern der dänischen Firmen eine Einführung über die Vorteile von Geschäftsbeziehungen zur ESO geben. Die dänischen Firmen haben die Möglichkeit, sich sowohl mit den technologischen Anforderungen als auch mit den Ausschreibungsmodalitäten vertraut zu machen. Es ist auch Zeit für Gespräche von einzelnen Repräsentanten der ESO mit dänischen Firmen reserviert.
Der Industrietag wird gemeinsam vom dänischen Big Science-Sekretariat und der ESO organisiert.
