Tähtitietelijät ovat Euroopan eteläisen observatorion Very Large Telescope, eli ESO:n VLT-kaukoputken avulla löytäneet Maata lähinnä olevan supermassiivisten mustien aukkojen parin. Myös mustien aukkojen keskinäinen etäisyys on pienempi kuin millään muilla aiemmin havaituilla supermassiivisten mustien aukkojen pareilla. Ne sulautuvat lopulta yhdeksi jättimäiseksi mustaksi aukoksi.
