Uusia jännittäviä virtuaalisia kierroksia ESO:n observatorioille ja toimipaikkoihin

ESO:n verkkosivuilla on nyt saatavilla virtuaalisia 360-asteen kierroksia kaikkiin ESO:n toimipisteisiin. Tässä uudessa julkistuksessa kierroksia on paranneltu uusilla näkökulmilla ja useilla panoraamoilla, sekä videoilla, joissa esitellään ennennäkömättömiä paikkoja. Voit siirtyä yhdestä panoraamasta toiseen klikkaamalla kuvissa olevia sinisiä pisteitä. Seuraa vain näitä sinisiä pisteitä ja nauti ESO-maailman immersiivisestä kokemuksesta!
Voit aloittaa kierroksen ESO:n Garchingissa sijaitsevalta päämajalta Munichissa Saksassa. Nämä moderniin arkkitehtuuriin viittaavat 1981 rakennetut rakennukset ovat ESO:n tieteellinen, teknologinen ja hallinnollinen keskus. ESO:n jäsenmaiden lukumäärän ja henkilökunnan määrän kasvaessa alkuperäiseen suunnitelmaan lisättiin osa joulukuussa 2013. Arkkitehtipiirien maailmanlaajuisen ihailun kohteena oleviin ESO:n Garchingin tiloihin pääsee nyt tutustumaan tässä virtuaalisessa kierroksessa: arkkitehtuurin todellisia helmiä!
Garchingin esikaupungin rauhasta voit ylittää Atlantin valtameren ja mennä yhdelle epävieraanvaraisimmista paikoista ja osallistua ESO:n Chilen observatorioiden virtuaalikierroksille. Paranalin observatorio ja "Very Large Telescope (VLT)"-kaukoputken kotipaikka, sekä ESO:n ensimmäinen observatorio La Silla on mahdollista nähdä majesteettisen yötaivaan alla. Nämä ovat maailman parhaita tähtitieteen tutkimuspaikkoja maailmassa. Näiden uusia panoraamojen välityksellä saat käsityksen millaista olisi nauttia näistä Chilen taivaista paikanpäällä. Näiden maailman huippuobservatorioiden lisäksi voit myös vierailla ALMA:n operatiivisessa rakennuksessa (ALMA Operations Support Facility (OSF)), missä maailman suurimman radioteleskooppiverkoston työntekijät työskentelevät ja elävät. Kaikista paikoista on mukana taustatietoa sisältäen informaatiota ESO:n teleskoopeista ja instrumenteista.
Mukana on jopa katsaus tulevaisuuteen. Pääset vierailemaan Cerro Armazonesille useilla eri näköpaikoilla, minne maailman suurin silmä taivaalle, eli "European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT)"-kaukoputki tullaan rakentamaan valmiina vastaamaan tämän päivän monimutkaisimpiin tieteellisiin haasteisiin.
ESO:n kokoelmaa sadoista 360-asteen panoraamakuvista voidaan käyttää myös muihin tarkoituksiin. Ne voi esimerkiksi viedä virtuaalitodellisuus laitteistoihin tai planetaarioiden laittoistoihin kuvulla näytettäväksi. Kaikki on saatavilla tämän linkin takaa.
Tämän hämmästyttävän kokoelman olemassaolosta voidaan kiittää ESO:n valokuvalähettiläiden kovaa työtä ja omistautumista ESO:lle. ESO:n virtuaalisten kierrosten verkkosivu kerää yhteen kokonaisen perheen 360-asteen virtuaalisia kierroksia ESO:n toimipisteisiin.
