Informationsmøde i Garchings forskerpark

Studerende og stab fra alle institutionerne i forskerparken Forschungscampus Garching er invitetet til præsentation af ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre torsdag den 16. april klokken 16:00. Mødet holdes i Eridanus auditoriet i ESOs hovedkvarter. ESO Supernova er under bygning lige ved siden af hovedkvarteret, og centeret åbner midt i 2017. Gæsterne får mulighed for at høre hvilke muligheder, der kan være for dem i projektet. Det er projektkoordinator Fabian Reckmann og chefen for formidlingsafdelingen Lars Lindberg Christensen som fortæller om projektets status, og om hvordan andre interesserede institutioner og personer kan blive del af projektet eller på anden måde komme til at støtte det.
ESO Supernova bliver et astronomicenter med de allernyeste muligheder. Gæster kommer til at opleve en opslugende, immersiv præsentation, som vil vække ærefrygt og benovelse over det Univers, som vi lever i. Skoleklasser og familier vil få en uforglemmelig og lærerig oplevelse. Selv de mest abstrakte og fjerne emner i astronomi og fysik bliver forklaret og visualiseret på nye måder.
Hjertet i ESO Supernova bliver et full-dome planetarium med en kuppeldiameter på 14 meter. Her udnyttes den nyeste projektionsteknologi og videnskabeligt korrekte tredimensionelle databaser over astronomiske objekter. Ud over planetariet vil der være en fængende astronomiudstilling i et område på mere end 2200 kvadratmeter. Her introduceres den videnskab og teknologi som er bag den moderne astronomi, så den besøgende kan lære om sin plads i Universet. Der vil være gratis adgang til både planetarium og udstillinger, og man kan besøge stedet både som enkeltpersoner og i grupper på daglige rundvisninger.
Der vil også blive tilbudt et større undervisningsprogram på ESO Supernova. Det kommer til at omfatte særlige planetarieshows og rundvisninger for børn i alle aldre, workshops, lærermaterialer til brug på stedet eller hjemme i klasserne samt meget mere.
Det er et samarbejde imellem Heidelberg Institut for Teoretiske Studier, forskningsstiftelsen Klaus Tschira Stiftung og ESO, som har muliggjort ESO Supernova. Selve bygningen er en donation fra Klaus Tschira Stiftung, og ESO kommer til at stå for den daglige drift.
