Třetí Astronomický kemp ESO pro studenty středních škol

ESO a její Science Outreach Network (ESON) spolupracují s organizací Sterrenlab na přípravě třetího Astronomického kempu ESO (ESO Astronomy Camp), který bude zaměřen na problematiku Sluneční soustavy a extrasolárních planet. Kemp se uskuteční od 26. prosince 2015 do 1. ledna 2016 na Astronomical Observatory of the Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley, která se nachází v údolí Saint-Barthélemy ve městě Nus v Itálii. Řada partnerů včetně ESO poskytuje stipendia na tuto akci, která mohou získat vítězní uchazeči.
Hlavními tématy kempu budou Sluneční soustava a exoplanety a účatníci se s nimi seznámí prostřednictvím řady astronomických aktivit včetně přednášek, samostatných úkolů nebo nočních pozorování dalekohledy observatoře. Připraveny jsou však také oddechové společenské aktivity – můžete se věnovat zimním sportům, nebo se zúčastnit exkurzí, což z kempu učiní nezapomenutelný zážitek. Za vědecký program kempu zodpovídá Evropská jižní observatoř (ESO), která zároveň, společně s dalšími partnery, zajišťuje zkušené lektory a potřebné vybavení.
Z celého programu jen několik lahůdek, které letošní Astronomický kemp ESO nabídne: přednášky o kosmických misích k planetám a objevu první extrasolární planety, měření vzdálenosti planetky nebo výlet na Matterhorn.
Poplatek účastníka kempu činí 500 Euro a zahrnuje ubytování s plnou penzí (snídaně, oběd, večeře) v hostelu Saint-Barthélemy, dohled profesionálního personálu, všechny astronomické a volnočasové aktivity, materiály, výlety, přepravu v rámci aktivit kempu, dopravu z letiště Milán Malpensa a Linate na observatoř a zpět (soukromým autobusem) a pojištění. Poplatek nezahrnuje cestovní náklady z domova účastníka na letiště Milán Malpensa a Linate nebo do Saint Barthélemy ani zpět.
Maximální počet účastníku kempu je 56. Kemp je koncipován pro studenty středních škol ve věku od 16 do 18 let (ročník 1997, 1998 a 1999) z členských států ESO (ESO Member States) a dalších zemí, které jsou součástí ESON (ESO Science Outreach Network countries). Určitý počet míst bude k dispozici i pro studenty z jiných zemí, ti však nemají nárok na poskytnutí podpory (stipendia).
Student, který se chce zaregistrovat, musí vyplnit formulář na stránkách kempu a do 4. října 2015 nahrát 3 minuty dlouhé video. Video musí být pojato jako prezentace vlastního zájmu o účast na kempu. Porota bude brát v úvahu vědeckou správnost, motivaci, originalitu, rozmanitost a ochotu zapojit se do činnosti v kolektivu. Video by mělo být v angličtině na téma "Můj oblíbený astronomický objekt / jev". Žadatel musí ve videu vystupovat, musí hovořit anglicky a vzít v úvahu uvedená hodnotící kritéria. Vítězové finanční podpory a oznámení o přijetí žádosti o účast budou zveřejněny do 16. října 2015. Registrace účastníků bude ukončena do 30. října. Žadatel z členského státu ESO či ESON, jehož přihlašovací video bude organizátory vyhodnoceno jako nejlepší, získá jako sponzorský dar ESO uhrazení úplných nákladů na účast v kempu včetně dopravy. Národní partneři budou přispívat na účastnický poplatek autorům nejlepších prací v jejich zemích.
