Se anuncia el ganador de la beca Campamento de Astronomía ESO 2018

El ganador de la beca ofrecida por ESO para el AstroCamp Invierno 2018 ha sido seleccionado entre 95 participantes de 15 países. ESO se complace en anunciar que James Weyringer, ciudadano austriaco, es el ganador de la beca ESO.
El nivel de las solicitudes fue sumamente alto, enviadas por diversos futuros científicos e ingenieros, entusiastas por asistir al campamento de este año. La beca de ESO cubre el costo total del campamento, brindándole a James asistencia financiera para participar en este evento que podría definir su carrera. Otros solicitantes han sido seleccionados para recibir apoyo financiero de otras instituciones en toda Europa.
ESO y su Red de Extensión Científica están colaborando con el organizador del evento de difusión científica Sterrenlab y el Observatorio Astronómico de la Región Autónoma del Valle de Aosta (OAVdA) para organizar el sexto Campamento de Astronomía ESO. Este interesante evento tendrá lugar del 26 de diciembre de 2018 al 1 de enero de 2019, en el Valle de Aosta, Italia.
El campamento explorará el tema de los exoplanetas en varias sesiones astronómicas, e incluirá conferencias, actividades prácticas y observaciones nocturnas con los telescopios del observatorio. Las actividades sociales, los deportes de invierno y las excursiones contribuirán a hacer del campamento una experiencia memorable para los participantes. ESO y OAVdA se encargarán del programa científico del Campamento de Astronomía de ESO y, junto con otros asociados, proporcionarán profesores y material.

El Planetario y Centro de Visitas ESO Supernova es fruto de una cooperación entre European Southern Observatory (ESO) y el Instituto de Estudios Teóricos de Heidelberg (HITS). El edificio fue donado por la fundación alemana Klaus Tschira Stiftung (KTS), y ESO dirige las instalaciones.
