Ganadores de las becas para el segundo campamento de astronomía de ESO

El segundo campamento de astronomía de ESO se llevará a cabo entre el 26 de diciembre de 2014 y el 1 de enero de 2015 en el Observatorio Astronómico de la Región Autónoma del Valle de Aosta, situado en Saint-Barthelemy, Nus, Italia. El evento es organizado por Sterrenlab en colaboración con ESO y su red de difusión científica.
El campamento explorará las distancias dentro del ámbito de la astronomía a través de clases, actividades prácticas y observaciones nocturnas con los telescopios e instrumentos del observatorio. Los participantes también podrán disfrutar de distintas actividades sociales, deportes de invierno y excursiones.
Las inscripciones para los estudiantes secundarios ya están cerradas. Se recibieron más de 250 postulaciones provenientes de 24 países y los ganadores de las becas ofrecidas por ESO y sus socios nacionales ya han sido seleccionados.El campamento albergará alrededor de 50 estudiantes de secundaria entre los 16 y los 18 años. De todos estos participantes, los siguientes resultaron elegidos para recibir o una beca completa que cubre el costo total del campamento, incluido el transporte, o becas parciales.
El ganador de la beca otorgada por ESO es Allan dos Santos Costa (17 años, Brasil) por su video titulado "Otros mundos. Nuestro mundo”. Allan comentó al recibir la beca: "Realmente me tomó por sorpresa! Toda mi familia está muy contenta también; no lo podíamos creer cuando me enteré que mi video había sido seleccionado como el ganador! ¡Soy un gran admirador del trabajo de ESO y de muchos temas astronómicos, y estoy muy emocionado de poder ver la nieve por primera vez!".
Las siguientes becas fueron otorgadas por socios nacionales:
- Del Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille, Francia, entregada a Angèle Taillard.
- De la Astronomische Gesellschaft, Alemania, entregada a Marielle Rüppel (17 años).
- Del Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Italia, entregada a Francesca Dresbach (18 años).
- De la Polskie Towarzystwo Astronomiczne, Polonia, entregada a Klaudia Zięba (17 años).
- De la Fundacja "New Space", Polonia, entregada a Tomasz Świerczewski (18 años) y Michal Grendysz (17 años).
- Del National Children's Fund, Polonia, entregada a Zofia Kaczmarek (16 años), Jakub Morawski (18 años) y Mikolaj Sabat (16 años).
- De Ciencia Viva, Portugal, entregada a Margarida Santiago (17 años) y Diogo Ribeiro (16 años).
- Del Petnica Science Centre, Serbia, entregada a Andjelka Milovanovic (18 años).
- De la Sociedad Española de Astronomía, España, entregada a Ramón García (17 años).
- De la Svenska Astronomiska Sällskapet, Suecia, entregada a Jakob Reinholdsson (17 años) y Elin Löfman (16 años).
- De la Universidad de Ginebra, Suiza, entregada a Vania Vicenzi (17 años).
- De la Eyuboglu High School, Turquía, entregada a Baran Berdan Çimen y Baris Can Soy (ambos de 16 años).
- Del Consejo de Instalaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas, Reino Unido, entregada a Sophie Abrahams (17 años) y Alistair Duffey (17 años).
- De la Real Sociedad de Astronomía, Reino Unido, entregada a Awnit Singh (16 años) y Jessica Goldie (16 años).
El campamento también cuenta con el respaldo de varios astrónomos visitantes, entre ellos Laurent Eyer (Universidad de Ginebra, Suiza), Fernando Ballesteros (Universidad de Valencia, España) y Arif Solmaz (Universidad de Cag, Turquía).
