Nueva aplicación móvil denominada Kiwaka cuenta con material de ESO
LANDKA, empresa de desarrollo de aplicaciones móviles, nos acerca al Universo con imágenes y videos de ESO

Una nueva aplicación para iPhone y iPad llamada Kiwaka se ha dado a conocer hoy. Desarrollada por la empresa de aplicaciones móviles LANDKA, en colaboración con ESO y otras importantes organizaciones científicas, es lo que se denomina una aplicación de "eduentretenimiento" (una combinación de educación y entretenimiento), fusionando juegos con el aprendizaje de la astronomía.
Kiwaka está dirigida a una amplia audiencia y muestra imágenes de ESO con el fin de detallar interesantes objetos astronómicos. Los usuarios tendrán acceso a enlaces que los conducirán a contenidos de ESO, donde pueden explorar el cosmos de manera más profunda en el sitio web de la organización. A medida que el juego progresa, los usuarios viajan entre las estrellas y aprenden sobre ellas en el camino. Una vez finalizado el juego, un mapa estelar está disponible mostrando las constelaciones que se han explorado.
Kiwaka es un método innovador en la divulgación de la astronomía. Su combinación de educación y entretenimiento inspira al usuario a divertirse y a aprender algo en este campo, a través de tecnología móvil de fácil acceso (mientras hace uso de la diversidad de información obtenida por los telescopios de ESO).
“En ESO estamos siempre en la búsqueda de formas innovadoras de llevar la astronomía a la gente. En el mundo digital en que vivimos hoy en día, las aplicaciones son sin duda un medio atractivo para cautivar nuestra imaginación. Kiwaka hace un trabajo maravilloso en este sentido, haciendo uso de material de ESO para incentivar a los usuarios de aplicaciones móviles a descubrir el Universo de una manera entretenida y competitiva”, señala Lars Lindberg Christensen, jefe del Departamento de Educación y Difusión de ESO.
El nombre Kiwaka proviene de un lugar en África. La historia de los personajes se relata en una aplicación eBook para niños llamada Kiwaka Story (la historia de Kiwaka), que también fue lanzada hoy por la empresa LANDKA. El eBook es narrado por el actor Diogo Morgado. La banda sonora de Kiwaka fue escrita por David Ari Leon (un destacado compositor conocido por su trabajo en proyectos de Marvel y Disney).
Kiwaka puede descargarse en la tienda iTunes de Apple a partir de hoy.

LANDKA es una empresa de desarrollo de aplicaciones móviles especializada en la ejecución de productos de alta calidad en el campo de la educación y el entretenimiento. La compañía ha creado otras dos aplicaciones de "eduentretenimiento" llamadas 'Back in Time", una galardonada aplicación educativa que también emplea material de ESO, y ‘ThinkO’, un juego para ejercitar la mente.
