ESO abre sus puertas al público el 19 de octubre de 2013

El 19 de octubre, entre las 11:00 y las 18:00 horas, la oficina central del Observatorio Europeo Austral en Garching bei München, Alemania, abrirá sus puertas a visitantes ávidos de conocimiento. La mayoría de los institutos de investigación ubicados en el campus de Garching también participarán en el Día de Puertas Abiertas.
En ESO, los asistentes podrán disfrutar de un gran número de interesantes actividades:
- Conéctate en vivo con ALMA, el proyecto astronómico más grande en la actualidad, localizado en el llano de Chajnantor, Chile, a 5.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
- Conéctate también en directo con el Very Large Telescope de ESO, en la plataforma de Paranal, el telescopio óptico más avanzado del mundo.
- Mira interesantes documentales entre los que se encuentran “De Europa a las Estrellas – Los primeros 50 años de ESO explorando el cielo austral" y "ALMA – en búsqueda de nuestros orígenes cósmicos".
- Asiste a charlas impartidas por los astrónomos de ESO, con temáticas que abordarán desde la vida en otros planetas hasta los agujeros negros.
- Descubre cómo los astrónomos realizan observaciones en infrarrojo y obtén tu propia fotografía tomada con este tipo de luz.
- Observa el Sol a través de un telescopio y, en caso de que las condiciones climáticas no sean favorables, presencia un espectáculo en el planetario.
- Asiste a demostraciones de los instrumentos de ESO, comparte con los astrónomos e ingenieros de la organización, disfruta de maravillosas vistas del cielo nocturno y aprende mucho más visitando diversas exposiciones.
- Conoce los telescopios localizados en Chile a través de tours virtuales.Visita el laboratorio óptico y aprende cómo ESO crea estrellas artificiales utilizando potentes rayos láser.
- Conoce el edificio más nuevo de ESO desde el exterior, mientras se encuentra en construcción.Los niños podrán pintarse sus caras y participar en un concurso para ganar diversos premios.
- Simplemente disfruta de un momento de relajo escuchando nuestra serie Chile Chill, que combina tranquilas melodías con impresionantes fotografías de nuestros sitios en Chile.

Nuestro personal es internacional y si bien la mayoría de las actividades se llevarán a cabo en alemán, también podrás conocer personas que hablen distintos idiomas, así que prepárate para practicar tus conocimientos de otras lenguas.
En ESO hay una pequeña cafetería donde podrás adquirir bebidas y alimentos ligeros.
