Tours virtuales de ESO: Edición 50 Aniversario

La cuarta generación de Tours Virtuales de ESO ya está disponible en la página web del Observatorio Europeo Austral. La edición 50 aniversario de los tours virtuales de ESO permite disfrutar de completos recorridos del interior y los alrededores de algunos de los sitios más impresionantes del observatorio, así como también de sus innovadores instrumentos. Esta nueva versión supera a las anteriores, ya que, incluye más del doble del número original de escenas panorámicas.
Gracias a un sistema de navegación interactivo y fácil de usar, estos tours virtuales permiten a cualquier persona visitar y explorar algunos de los espacios más espectaculares de ESO. A lo largo del recorrido, aparecen letreros con la descripción de los lugares y estructuras más importantes, así como un enlace a Google Maps, que permite determinar exactamente donde se localiza cada sitio de ESO con respecto al resto del mundo, entregando la posibilidad de cruzar el planeta en segundos para visitarlos. También es posible presionar casillas interactivas, que muestran breves secuencias de video en donde se pueden observar algunas de las actividades habituales que se desarrollan en un área específica.
Además de incluir mayores detalles en los tours de Paranal-Armazones, La Silla, Chajnantor, la Sede de ESO y la Vía Láctea, esta nueva y extensa serie de vistas panorámicas incluye una visita a nuestro complejo de oficinas y residencia para invitados, ubicados en Vitacura, Santiago; imágenes actualizadas del radiotelescopio ALMA (the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array), que se encuentra a punto de ser finalizado en el Sitio de Operaciones del Conjunto de Antenas (Array Operations Site, AOS) en la Llano de Chajnantor; así como una revisión más minuciosa a algunas de las tecnologías y la mecánica utilizada en los telescopios de ESO.
Todos los Tours Virtuales de ESO son compatibles con el sistema operativo móvil de Apple (iOS), lo que los hace accesibles para los usuarios de iPod, iPhone y iPad.
