The ELT opens its eye on the sky (artist's impression)

ESO's Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) will be the world's largest eye on the sky, with a primary mirror 39-metres in size and located atop Cerro Armazones in the Chilean Atacama desert. This artist's impression shows the completed telescope opening its dome to reveal the gigantic mirror within.
