Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile da a conocer ganadores nacionales y regionales de la versión 2021

Las dos convocatorias realizadas este año tuvieron 22 proyectos ganadores con CLP $600 millones en fondos que apoyarán la astronomía a lo largo del país. 

El Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile ha seleccionado los 22 proyectos ganadores nacionales y regionales de las dos convocatorias realizadas en 2021. Los fondos adjudicados, CLP $600 millones en total, se invertirán en iniciativas dedicadas al desarrollo de la investigación científica, tecnológica, educacional y cooperación en astronomía a lo largo de Chile.  

La convocatoria nacional 2021 tuvo 19 proyectos ganadores. Los fondos apoyarán programas posdoctorales y puestos académicos en astronomía en instituciones chilenas, visitas científicas de investigadores nacionales y extranjeros, la construcción de tecnología para la astronomía y disciplinas afines, además de programas educativos para la enseñanza y difusión de esta ciencia en Chile.  

Entre los ganadores a nivel nacional, este año destaca el apoyo para la creación del Club Observatorio Astronómico Comunal Barrancas de la Municipalidad de Cerro Navia. Además, el Comité ESO-Chile seguirá apoyando las Olimpiadas de Astronomía y Astronáutica de la Sociedad Chilena de Astronomía (SOCHIAS).  

A contar de este año, al tradicional llamado nacional que se realiza desde 1996, se agrega una convocatoria regional en Coquimbo y Antofagasta. La idea de este nuevo llamado anual es fomentar y focalizar el rol de la astronomía como herramienta de desarrollo en las regiones donde se encuentran todos los observatorios de ESO. 

La convocatoria regional tuvo tres proyectos ganadores. En la región de Antofagasta, el comité financiará el diseño profesional del Centro de Interpretación Astronómica “Valle de los Fotones”, iniciativa impulsada por la agrupación científico cultural Likancabur y que busca construir un espacio para visitantes en pleno desierto de Atacama. En Coquimbo, académicos de la U. de la Serena se llevaron fondos para investigar y socializar el conocimiento y la cosmovisión de los grupos indígenas y rurales de la región. El tercer proyecto, de la Universidad Central de Antofagasta, tiene como objetivo promover la astronomía a través de las artes, como el teatro y la música. 

El Comité Mixto de ESO-Gobierno de Chile realiza una contribución sostenida al desarrollo de la astronomía en el país a través de fondos concursables anuales y está compuesto por representantes de ESO y del Gobierno de Chile, a través de la Dirección de Energía, Ciencia y Tecnología e Innovación (DECYTI) del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y con la participación de la Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo (ANID) de Chile y la Sociedad Chilena de Astronomía (SOCHIAS). Para la convocatoria regional se suman las Secretarías Regionales de las Macrozonas Centro Norte y Norte del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología, Conocimiento e Innovación.
