Antofagasta y Coquimbo: Comité Mixto ESO-Chile 2023 abre oportunidades de financiamiento regional

A partir del 1 de agosto, el Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile abrirá la segunda convocatoria para la asignación de fondos regionales en Coquimbo y Antofagasta.
Este nuevo llamado regional tiene como objetivo promover la astronomía como una herramienta de desarrollo para las comunidades de las regiones de Antofagasta y Coquimbo, lugares donde se encuentran todos los observatorios de ESO.
El Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile recibirá propuestas de organizaciones privadas y públicas, además de personas naturales o jurídicas de ambas regiones.
ESO ha destinado cerca de 350 millones de pesos (400.000 euros) para esta convocatoria regional. El 70% de los fondos se destinará a la Región de Antofagasta y 30% a la de Coquimbo. Estos porcentajes se relacionan a la inversión de ESO en dichas localidades.
Por primera vez, representantes de los Gobiernos Regionales de Coquimbo y Antofagasta, junto a autoridades nacionales y de ESO, formarán parte del Comité encargado de seleccionar los proyectos ganadores. Esta medida se implementará con el fin de asegurar la elección de las mejores iniciativas que apoyen el desarrollo regional.
Las postulaciones estarán abiertas por dos meses, entre el 1 de agosto y el 1 de octubre del 2023, a través de un formulario en línea. Además, habrá un periodo informativo durante el mes de julio para que todas las personas e instituciones regionales interesadas puedan conocer este nuevo concurso.
Los fondos regionales otorgados por el Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile financiarán proyectos en cinco ejes temáticos:
- Desarrollo socioeconómico local sostenible a través de la astronomía: Iniciativas que busquen utilizar instalaciones astronómicas para estimular beneficios socioeconómicos asociados para la comunidad local.
- Astronomía y cultura: Este eje temático apunta a visibilizar el papel de los pueblos originarios y la cultura del norte de Chile en el desarrollo de la astronomía y/o el conocimiento ligado a ella estimulando proyectos de rescate histórico, estudios sociológicos, culturales y artísticos.
- Conocimientos y habilidades para el desarrollo: Iniciativas centradas en el uso de habilidades como manejo y análisis de datos, aprendizaje automático, uso de tecnologías e infraestructuras informáticas ampliamente utilizadas en astronomía, para abordar desafíos de desarrollo sostenible.
- Proyectos técnicos de astronomía para el desarrollo: Impulso de ideas que podrían presentarse para una futura financiación, o para la construcción de un demostrador de tecnología.
- Otros: Apoyar el desarrollo de las regiones a través de la astronomía en áreas no cubiertas por las cuatro categorías anteriores o que abarquen más de una de ellas.
El Comité Mixto ESO-Chile que otorga fondos regionales está compuesto por representantes de Chile y ESO. Por parte de Chile, participan la División de Ciencias, Energía, Educación, Innovación y Astronomía del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (DECYTI), el Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología, Conocimiento e Innovación y los Gobiernos Regionales de Coquimbo y Antofagasta. ESO está representado por su encargada de relaciones regionales, el encargado de sustentabilidad y el representante de ESO en Chile.
