Xavier Barcons, Director General de ESO, expondrá en Puerto de Ideas Valparaíso sobre los nuevos retos de la astronomía
Su charla pública “La humanidad frente al Universo: los nuevos retos de la astronomía” se desarrollará el domingo 11 de noviembre a las 16:30 horas en la Universidad de Valparaíso

¿Existe vida u otros mundos habitables fuera de la Tierra? ¿Qué ocurre en el entorno de los agujeros negros? ¿De qué está hecho el Universo?, son algunas de las preguntas que no dejan de generar curiosidad en nosotros y a las que se enfrenta la astronomía actual. La charla que dará el Director General de ESO, Xavier Barcons, en Puerto de Ideas Valparaíso apunta a cuestionar nuestra relación con el Universo y cómo ESO participa en la búsqueda de respuestas a estas interrogantes, especialmente gracias a los observatorios astronómicos ubicados en el norte de Chile.
La relación entre astronomía y humanidad no será el único tema tratado en esta VIII edición de Puerto de Ideas. El festival también propondrá una serie de charlas dictadas por expertos de diversas áreas, tales como neurociencia, arqueología, geofísica o literatura. Además, los asistentes podrán disfrutar de ciclos de cine, cafés filosóficos, exposiciones, talleres de arte y de lectura.
La Fundación Puerto de Ideas, fundación sin fines de lucro, organiza estos eventos dos veces al año en Valparaíso y Antofagasta, que tienen como objetivo juntar expertos de distintas disciplinas científicas y culturales, para compartir sus conocimientos con el público general en un espíritu multidisciplinario y creativo.
