Young Multiple Systems near the Sun Authors: Alexis Brandeker, Marten van Kerkwijk, Ray Jayawardhana University of Toronto It is well known that most stars in the field are members of binary or multiple systems. Intriguingly, young stars seem to have an even higher binary fraction. We have undertaken complementary spectroscopic and adaptive optics imaging surveys to constrain better the fraction of close binaries among nearby young systems, dramatically improving upon previous work. Here, we report on first results.
