Working on ALMA

A vision of the near-future ALMA antenna array with an "alien" green glow, located on the Chajnantor plateau, 5000 meters altitude in northern Chile. ALMA will be a single telescope of revolutionary design, composed initially of 66 high precision antennas. it will probe the first stars and galaxies, the processes of star and planet formation, as well as the complex chemistry of the giant clouds of gas and dust that spawn stars and planetary systems.
