             VLT-SW-OCT2001 - RELEASE NOTES FOR BOB
             ======================================

   Changes (with respect to MAR2001):

     - the DPR category will always be passed to the template scripts.
       Otherwise templates trying to set a DPR keyword would do that
       locally only, and this will be lost at the time OBS and DPR
       keywords are sent automatically by BOB to OS (i.e. at the
       occasion of a START command). 

     - the "PAFReady" event (generated by a template script) is always
       sent to the OH process, even if BOB is configured not to send
       any of the automatically generated status events to OH.

   New Features (with respect to MAR2001):

     - BOB will generate various FITS ops-logs automatically,
       according to what is going on. Remark that this requires the
       TPL and OBS dictionaries to be loaded into logManager - this is
       not done by BOB itself!

     - most of the actions associated with the buttons on BOB's GUI
       are now executable commands. This means they can be executed by
       e.g. sending a command.

     - BOB can now also be passed the name of a script-file, to be
       executed at start up (similar to seqWish itself). Just pass the 
       name of this file as the last argument in the run-string. This
       is obviously intended for non-interactive sessions, or for
       sophisticated initialization of interactive sessions.

     - There is a new convenience procedure ("finishOB"), callable from
       a template script. The effect will be that at termination of the
       template, the remaining templates will be skipped.
       

   All changes and enhancements are documented in the User Manual.
