Sivera Date: 05 Mar 2001 VLT COMMON SOFTWARE "MAR2001" - OVERVIEW ====================================== The MAR2001 release is an external release and it will be distributed to consortia (CDs with OS, VLTSW sources and manuals) MAR2001 contains some additional patches for both Operating Systems. These patches are supplied by the official HP and SUN support sites and their installation is strongly recommended. Remark: if you have HP11 NOV2000 already installed, you need to re-install some patches. Please, have a look at the section "UPGRADE FROM NOV2000" of the "Combined OS Installation Manual". Another remark: if you have OCT99, or FEB2000, please, have a look also at the previous Release Notes (FEB2000 and NOV2000). They may contain important information. TORNADO RTAP CCS HP-UX 10.20 1.0.1 (68k&PPC) 6.7 CCSlite HP-UX 11.00 1.0.1 (68k&PPC) - CCSlite Sun 5.6 2.0 (68k&PPC) - NOCCS HP-UX 11.00 - - NOCCS Sun 5.6 - - Features 1. HP-UX 10.20: no major changes. Full CCS will run on this platform only. 2. CCSLite and NOCCS will be the only version available for SUN and HP-UX 11.00 3. The compiler has not changed. Some gnu tools have been added: tar, zip and unzip. 4. New version of VxWorks Tornado 2, including patches. IMPORTANT REMARK: To avoid network problems, we had to come back to Tornado 1 for HP (Full CCS and CCSLite). Tornado 2 is used for SUN platform only. 5. JAVA platform: JDK 1.1.8 + SWING 1.1 6. MIDAS: 01FEBpl1.1 7. the default shell has been changed to /bin/bash and the standard environment has been completely rewritten. Please, have a look at the "RELEASE NOTES FOR VLT TOOLS" to have more information. Distribution ------------ Please, note that starting wwith MAR2001 we support two HP-UX OS's: HP10.20 and HP11. By default HP10.20 will be distributed. We will distribute HP11 on demand only. Starting with MAR2001, we distribute everything on CDs: Operative Systems, VLTSW and documentation kit. VLTSW sources and documents are available on a CD as tar-compressed files: VLTSW.tar.Z and DOC.tar.Z The paper distribution will not be performed.
